Nothin' like the real thing, baby! Bottled vs. brewed teas

Lots of bottled teas on the market these days! If you're a bottle baby, keep in mind the findings presented this past summer by Dr. Shiming Li at the 240th national meeting of the American Chemical Society in Boston. Dr. Li stated that the polyphenol content of bottled tea beverages is far lower than that of freshly steeped teas. In fact, it would take approximately 20 bottles to receive the benefit of one cup of steeped tea!

This extremely low nutrient content, coupled with the sugars and artificial sweeteners often added to bottled teas, makes us say "ain't nothin' like the real thing, baby!"
